How we handle your details

Last updated: 29 October 2026

This notice explains what Marlin & Slate collects through this website, why, and the choices you have. It covers visitors and clients in Kenya, the rest of Africa, the United Kingdom, the European Union and elsewhere.

Who we are

Marlin & Slate is an online design studio operating from Kenya. We are the data controller for information you send us through this site. Contact: hello@marlinandslate.com.

What we collect

  • The details you type into the enquiry form: name, company, email address, country, project type and your message.
  • Standard technical data our hosting provider processes to deliver and protect the site, such as IP address and browser type. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies.

Why we use it

We use your enquiry only to reply to you and, if you go ahead, to prepare a proposal and carry out the project. We rely on your consent, given with the checkbox on the form, and on the steps needed before entering a contract with you. We never sell your details or add you to a mailing list.

Who processes it for us

  • Cloudflare, which hosts this website.
  • Resend, which delivers form submissions to our inbox.
  • Our business email provider, where our correspondence is stored.

These providers may process data outside Kenya. We use providers that apply appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become projects are deleted after 24 months. Client records are kept for as long as the law requires for tax and accounting purposes.

Your rights

Under Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019, and, where it applies, the UK or EU General Data Protection Regulation, you can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or object to how we use it. You can withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@marlinandslate.com and we will respond within the period the law sets.

If you are unhappy with how we handled your data, you can complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner in Kenya, or to the data protection authority where you live.

Changes

We will post any changes to this notice on this page and update the date above.
